43 People should fix the entry preview times

I’m not sure if this is an anomaly, but it was pretty shocking. I was writing an entry for how I met James Carville and it said that I wrote the entry 38 years ago. I’m only 31 years old!

43 People should make it possible to delete people "I want to meet" who have deleted their accounts

Someone on my “people I’d like to meet” list has deleted their account. I cannot remove them from my list. Normally, when you want to remove someone from your list, you click their link, and are offered en “edit or remove” link. Howevever, when I click on the link to this user’s now-defunct account, the following error message is displayed:

Page Not Found

We looked everywhere but couldn’t find this page for you. If you think this is our fault, let us know (robotcoop at gmail dot com).

Here’s a link to our home page.

43 People should allow voting AGAINST an alternate page

I agree.

I also think the whole “positive” approach is quite strange in general.

The kind of “Pleasantville” communication forced upon users is unreasonable and degrades the value of all communication on the site.

There is no good without reference to bad. No black without white.

I think that users on all sites should be given the opportunity to “boo” or at least disagree.

For example there is a user cluttering up Iceland with pictures and cheering them to first place with a number of alternative profiles overriding all other users.

Though I have reported him neither he nor any of his alternative profiles have been taken out.

If we could just “boo” his pictures then perhaps the situation would be a bit fairer to other users..

43 People should allow voting AGAINST an alternate page

When someone clicks on the link “Help us find the real [person’s name here]”, the first link that pops up is a link that says “I am the real [person’s name here]!” Users who are less than bright tend to interpret the latter to mean that the actual person can be contacted through that link. They don’t realize that they are voting for their own page as an alternative to the page they’re looking at. (See Kevin Smith’s page as an example, where some poor sap named Bryon Frank has unwittingly identified his own page as an alternative to Kevin Smith’s.)

It should be possible to vote against a link like this as well as for it. This could be used to identify such mistakes more easily.

43 People should allow reporting problems with a page, similarly to 43 Places

43 Places has a way to report a problem with a particular place’s entry. 43 People could benefit from a similar feature.

Case in point: On Robert Rodriguez’s page, his name is not capitalized, and it is not possible to edit his information for some unknown reason. This would be a case of something worthy of a problem report.
