    Should do this 1 cheer

    I agree.

I also think the whole “positive” approach is quite strange in general.

The kind of “Pleasantville” communication forced upon users is unreasonable and degrades the value of all communication on the site.

There is no good without reference to bad. No black without white.

I think that users on all sites should be given the opportunity to “boo” or at least disagree.

For example there is a user cluttering up Iceland with pictures and cheering them to first place with a number of alternative profiles overriding all other users.

Though I have reported him neither he nor any of his alternative profiles have been taken out.

If we could just “boo” his pictures then perhaps the situation would be a bit fairer to other users..

    Should do this

When someone clicks on the link “Help us find the real [person’s name here]”, the first link that pops up is a link that says “I am the real [person’s name here]!” Users who are less than bright tend to interpret the latter to mean that the actual person can be contacted through that link. They don’t realize that they are voting for their own page as an alternative to the page they’re looking at. (See Kevin Smith’s page as an example, where some poor sap named Bryon Frank has unwittingly identified his own page as an alternative to Kevin Smith’s.)

It should be possible to vote against a link like this as well as for it. This could be used to identify such mistakes more easily.

    What do you think?
